Honoree Nixie Lynch and Husband Bobby

Nixie's journey began after she moved to Beaumont from El Paso. Her earliest bridge group included Frances Price, Gloria Ayres, and Nat Hallmark. They took lessons from Nancy Smalley and practiced their skills together after each lesson. Nixie played in limited games for many years, so her points didn't add up very quickly. In recent years she "graduated" to the Open Games where she consistently does very well. She earned small amounts of the 25 required GOLD points, but needed about 13 more when she teamed with Pat Bell, Linda Briggs, and Carolyn Worsham at the Austin Regional in July, 2018. It was one of those magical matches that resulted in earning all of her remaining GOLD in three days! As if that were not enough, she and partner Kaz Bell won an additional GOLD point in the ACBL-Wide Instant Matchpoint Game the following week! Congratulations, Nixie!

The Program

Linda Briggs's version on the Newlywed Game was a big hit!

Marilyn Adams and Pat Bell presented a plaque to Nixie that said "Twinkle, twinkle, little star; do you know how loved you are," a reference to Nixie's middle name (Twinkle). Frances Price and Gloria Ayres spoke of their friendship with Nixie.

Carolyn Worsham emceed the event. Frances Price and Gloria Ayres spoke of their early impressions and lasting friendship with Nixie.

Nixie's new husband, Bobby, spoke of his love for Nixie and his appreciation of her bridge family.
