Honoree Mary Johnson

Mary played social bridge for many years. When her group dwindled in size, she joined a duplicate group in the Bossier City-Shreveport area. In the 1980s she and several friends started attending tournaments, earning most of their points in Knock-Outs. She received Life Master status in the 1980s. Mary has live in Beaumont at three different periods in her life. She spent several years here when her grandson was a small child, and then she moved to the "family home" in Joaquin. She returned to Beaumont when her grandson was a teenager, moved north again, and returned to Beaumont about 15 years ago where she has found her home. Mary is a formidable foe at the bridge table, playing well consistently. Only a small percentage of ACBL players earn the rank of GOLD* Life Master.* Congratulations, Mary!

The Program and Mary's Family

Betty Poindexter emceed the event.	Leanne Johnson, Mary's daughter, spoke of her mom as a "super mom."	Nixie Lynch presented Mary with a suitcase of travel souveniers.

Don and Juinez entertained with a song about Mary's travels.	Mary was joined by her daughter, Leanne, and her sister, Margaret Smith.	Margaret Smith and Kay Hooper have been friends for almost 50 years!
